February 2008
This has been a rough winter! Lots of snow and sub-zero
temperatures. We lost most of January as influenza crept its way through
our family. Chris was traveling, a week in Houston and then a week in
Japan - so he was spared the whole mess!
I am looking forward to spring! Our escape to Arizona
and California will help the winter seem shorter - we hope! I delight in looking
at last summer's camping pictures and penciling in the dates for more camping
trips in 2008.
See below for news on the kids...there is plenty!
Annabelle
- Lots of acting in March with 3 dramas at church. March 8/9 will be
in all the church services - so you can see her on the net as Wooddale
Church streams live during services.
- Annabelle is taking Theatrical Dance. She seems to be enjoying
it. They are working on choreography for Hairspray, Mary Poppins and
High School Musical (sorry - but yuck!)
- Still in church choir. The choir is preparing for an upcoming
overnight tour. They will visit a nearby city for the weekend; 3 shows
at retirement homes on Saturday and after a hotel stay will perform at a
local church.
- Annabelle's bulging schedule needed a trim...so we had to drop out of Girl
Scouts.
- Annabelle is also in school choir...they have a spring concert.
Nathaniel
Just turned 6! Celebrated with a Lego party with friends and more
Legos on his birthday . It was a day of unwrapping and building!
Nathaniel still loves ELO (the 1970s rock band). Their music fills our
house every afternoon. Serendipitously,
ELO released a new album on Nathaniel's actual birthday! I was
frantically calling around town the day before to see who had it. They
couldn't sell it to me until Nathaniel's birthday (release date) - I was lucky
to get a copy! It is called "Ticket to the Moon - the Very Best of
ELO Volume II". Now if I just could have had Jeff Lynne (the lead
singer/composer/founder) some by to serenade him!
A day after his birthday - he discovered his first wiggly tooth. This
could be a long process...he will only eat soft food or food cut in chunks he
can chew on the other side.
Nathaniel is onto a new book series now...the "A to Z Mysteries"
by Ron Roy. We also started the "Magic Treehouse" series...but
he won't read them until we've read through all the "A to Z
Mysteries".
Next Update...Spring 2008!
Some things we are looking
forward to in the coming months:
