January/February 2008

Another tradition...planting paper white bulbs on Annabelle's half birthday.

Annabelle at the Eden Prairie Science Fair.  Her project this year was about Introverts and Extroverts.

Look closely and you will spy a thermometer in Annabelle's mouth.  We lost 3 weeks in January to influenza.  Annabelle was sick and missed school for an entire week.  I became ill the day Annabelle was better...and I was in bed a full week with the flu followed by more time with a sinus infection.  All this while Chris was in Japan.  I survived on the love, care and prayers of friends.

Nathaniel at the Teddy Bear Parade...a kindergarten tradition.

Annabelle performing at a drama at our church.  She acted out the plagues that struck Pharaoh in Egypt.

Nathaniel's Birthday!  His party was the weekend before his birthday.  Seen here with balloons for his party.

Cupcakes for the party.  Nathaniel wanted a Lego themed party, of course.

Playing Lego Bingo!

A Lego Building Contest.

A Lego Ring toss...demonstrated by yours truly.

Opening gifts...all Legos!

A donut breakfast on Nathaniel's actual birthday!

Building Lego Models all afternoon...a perfect birthday in Nathaniel's opinion.

Birthday lunch...a corn dog and a clementine.

Playing with a new Lego model.

Nathaniel's cake...3 lego bricks.

Birthday dinner...chicken nuggets and fries!

Happy 6th Birthday!

Port of Kashima (Japan) where grain unloads.

Group Picture with Cargill and Showa employees.  Everyone is wearing slippers in this picture.  It is customary to remove street shoes in many places in Japan, including this factory where flour is processed.

Omatsu's layer farm where our Century Corn is used.  This picture is too small - but in higher resolution, you can see the farmer has printed "Century Corn" on the bins (with the 1 and 2 on them)

Eggs going on to the conveyor.

A small 660cc Honda.  This type of car is highest selling vehicle in Japan.

Me in front of Mt Fuji (in the back in the clouds).

2/14/08...Valentine's Day!  I surprised the kids with a special breakfast of heart-shaped granola bars and fresh strawberries.

2/15/08...Nathaniel celebrated the 100th day of kindergarten with a party in his class!
