JUNE/JULY 2010

Our 16th Anniversary!

Father's Day 2010!

Nathaniel's soccer team - The Lava Monsters.

Grandma Ludwig was here for the Music Man and got to see Nathaniel's last soccer game too.  Click here to see  Music Man pictures.

Ahhh...camping.  Chilling out at High Falls at Tettegouche State Park.

We tried a new trail inside Tettegouche....the Superior Hiking Trail from High Falls to Mic Mac Lake.  We didn't make it all the way to Mic Mac Lake....it was another hot day and the hike was challenging!  This part of the trail - aptly named "The Drainpipe" is a 150 gorge that you have to claw your way up (and down) amid rock, tree roots and sliding dirt.

Hiking at Cascade River State Park.

Me...reading by the river.  This is my second favorite hiking spot....(first is the Split Rock River Loop of the Superior Hiking Trail)

Annabelle...at Cascade River

Our campsite at Split Rock Lighthouse State Park - Lake Superior is on the other side of that ridge behind the tent.  The best place on earth!

On top of Day Hill....that is the light house in the background.

Nathaniel cooling off on a very hot day!

The lighthouse from our campsite.

A rare sighting - they are illuminating the lighthouse on the first Friday of the month all summer to celebrate it's 100th birthday.

On our bench watching the lighthouse glow.

My favorite hike - the Split Rock Loop of the Superior Hiking Trail.

The day was so hot we were drenched in sweat.  I dumped river water on the kids' heads to cool them down.

Nathaniel after getting dunked.

My feet smell so sweet....even the butterflies flock to taste them!

Nathaniel and Annabelle discovered a ridge of clay....and made many creations.

Nathaniel's clay Space Shuttle.

Nathaniel is a birch (bark) head!

Last night - on Day Hill beach.

Annabelle celebrated her 12th birthday with lunch out with friends.

Annabelle's favorite restaurant - Q Cucumbers! (an better than you'd expect buffet in Edina!)

The birthday girl - requested pound cake with berries and cream instead of cake,

Nathaniel's new Lego model - The Space Shuttle.  Just out this summer -he couldn't wait to use his rainy day fund to buy it.  The model has       1,204 pieces!

Nathaniel strapped the shuttle to the plane he worked on last winter....just like the real shuttle takes a ride on a 747 back to Kennedy Space Center.

Thanks to some very kind neighbors who shared tickets with us- Nathaniel got to attend his first Twins Game!

Twins vs the Chicago White Sox.
