MAY 2010

Annabelle and friend Jenna at the 6th grade band concert.

Mother's Day

Prairie View Fun Run!

Annabelle dressed for her part as narrator of the "Hundred Year Snooze", the school musical (Sleeping Beauty).

Annabelle all grown up!

Annabelle and me, before the show.

Annabelle and her co-narrator.

Annabelle had a blast meeting all of our Minnesota Public Radio heroes!  If you've been to our house - you know we have a radio in every room and they are all tuned to MPR.  How cool to meet these folks that are a part of our lives every day!  This is Annabelle with Tom Crann, Host of All Things Considered.

Annabelle and the legendary Gary Eichten, Midday host.

Annabelle and Cathy Wurzer, Morning Edition host and author of Tales of the Road (which gives a great history of Route 61 on the North Shore.)

Annabelle with Kerri Miller, host of Midmorning and Talking Volumes (which Annabelle, resident book lover adores!).  It was a great afternoon!

Thanks MPR!

Nathaniel preparing to seal his 2nd grade time capsule.  It is filled with momentos that he can't open until graduation day!

Dad and Nathaniel at the time capsule party.

Mom came too!

The Prairie View Picnic!

Okay - so I wouldn't really eat a hot dog (unless it was a tofu-dog) - but it was fun to pretend!

Ahhhh - the North Shore!  We went up for just one night over Memorial weekend and it was like a little slice of heaven.  We saw many things we don't see in July....butterflies galore, baby birds and I saw my first Kingfisher on the Gooseberry River.  Here we are at Gooseberry Falls.

5th Falls at Gooseberry.

More 5th Falls.

A cave by the 5th falls.

Day Hill at Split Rock Lighthouse State Park.

THIS is why I love Minnesota!

Another Ludwig tradition...Nathaniel always makes me a "foothouse" on the beach!

This was quite a sight!  A mother duck with all her babies on her back....she shuffled them into the water and onto her back as we approached.

Lake Superior waves...

We couldn't get a campsite....but we still made a campfire supper at Pebble Beach at Split Rock Lighthouse.  That's Ellingston Island in the background.

Well - we missed our tent....but the campground doesn't have THIS!

On the Split Rock River Loop of the Superior Hiking Trail.

Annabelle signing the trial log.

Split Rock River

Nathaniel and me.

At Split Rock - the namesake.

Why does it always rain when we are on this trail?!?  We still had a mile to go when the downpour began.  When we made it back to the car, the temp had dropped to a chilly 49 degrees.  Time to go home!
