This recipe originated from long time family friend, Mrs. Lynn Rihn. I think of her whenever I mix it up. It is one of the only breads my kids will eat!

Honey Wheat Bread

1 3/4 cup boiling water

1/2 cup honey

1/2 cup wheat germ

1/2 cup oatmeal

2 tsp salt

1/2 cup butter

Combine above ingredients and let sit until lukewarm.

Add: 2 pkg yeast* dissolved in 1/2 cup lukewarm water.

Stir in: 1 cup white flour**. Add 2 eggs.

Starting with wheat flour next, add:1 cup flour alternating white with wheat for a total of 6 cups (until bread can be kneaded). Stir well after each addition - place in greased bowl, cover until double (1.5 hours). Punch down, let rise 15 minutes, form into 3 loaves. Put in pans sprayed with PAM. Let rise to double. Bake 30 minutes at 350.

*I use rapid rise yeast.

**I use white bread flour.
