November 2008

Today there is a moment to catch my breath, as the first real snow falls  here in Minnesota.  The kids are enjoying a school vacation day, playing happily with each other upstairs.

October was a whirlwind month with the sudden death of Chris' father in Indiana.  Chris was with his mom at his dad's side when he slipped away.  The kids and I flew to Indianapolis for the memorial October 11.  It was wonderful that extended family from across the country could be there with us.

In the same time frame...an opportunity for a job for me came and went.  I was excited at the opportunity, but had to turn down the offer because of childcare issues.  I'm keeping the faith that the right thing will come along when our family is ready.  Until then...there is lots of volunteer work!

My braces are still on...I've entered the lovely phase of wearing rubber bands!  Counting the days until April 2009 when they come off!

We are approaching one of my favorite times of the year...Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Looking forward to good times to come!

Read on for the latest on the kids...

Annabelle

  • Settling in to life at a new school, the consolidated intermediate school.  5th and 6th graders from 4 elementaries stream together to form this giant school.  There are lots of challenges...like leaving for the bus at 7 a.m., lots of  homework, and the stress of real grades!
  • Annabelle joined band this fall and is learning to play the clarinet.
  • She is in the church choir and is doing a few dramas with the Wooddale Drama team this fall.
  •  She is in theatrical dance class.  They are working on the following numbers: "Put on a Happy Face" and "Kids" from Bye-Bye Birdie and "Take a Chance on Me" from Mama Mia.

Nathaniel

  • Doing great in 1st grade!
  • The soccer season has wrapped up, he is taking a break from sports until Spring soccer.
  • Legos are still his favorite past time.

Next Update...Holiday 2008

Some things we are looking forward to in the coming months:

  • Thanksgiving

  • Lots of holiday choir performances

  • Christmas at home

  • Our annual trip to Chicago after the holidays
