Spring 2006

I am so glad to welcome spring!  I was just listening to Garrison Keilor over the weekend on NPR, musing about how we Minnesotans can almost forget that there ever was a winter when the first warm breezes of spring kiss our cheeks.  How true!

It has been a whirlwind spring.  January and February are just a distant memory now and March zipped by with its heavy snowstorms that gave us our first real accumulations of Minnesota style snow.

We spent the first week of April visiting with our family in Indiana.  Although the weather wasn't as warm as it has been in the past, it was still delightful.  We had a wonderful time.  We came home and had just recovered from being gone for 10 days when Easter was upon  us.

Chris left for a week long trip to Japan the day after Easter.  We had an incredibly busy week here with a huge number of extracurricular activities for both kids!  Annabelle was slaving away on her Science Fair project for most of the week, a couple of hours a day.  We were all glad to be reunited  and spent Dad's first day home with a quiet celebration of his birthday.

Summer is now almost here - and it is brimming with plans and possibilities.  Of course we will be camping a lot, mainly along the North Shore.  We are also hoping a summer visit to the midwest and  perhaps a stroll down Michigan Ave. in Chicago.  I'm also hoping for lots of family bike rides - our other summer passion.   Annabelle will usher in her 8th year in July with some sort of fan fare I'm sure.  She has also landed a part in a local theater's summer production, so we will be stuck at home base for the second half of July through the end of August with rehearsals and the production.

As always...our door is open for visitors from near or far...

Wishing everyone a wonderful summer ...until next time...

...Christina

P.S.  I'd love to hear from you!

Annabelle1

Annabelle's big news is her part in a play this summer!  She just barely made the age cut off (she was too young of course) - but persisted in getting me to take her to the auditions.  She did a great job and landed the role as the "Purple Fairy" in this summer's production of The Spell of Sleeping Beauty.  Rehearsals start in mid July and the performances are August 17-20 (6 shows).  She recently entered Eden Prairie's first annual science fair, which proved to be a lot more work that either of us had counted on.  Her finished product was something to behold though - and we were all proud of her for sticking with it!  Her favorite past time is still reading - and she has her nose buried every spare second.

Nathaniel

17Nathaniel is well...Nathaniel!  He has made some great strides this year, including most recently staying at preschool without Mom (hooray!) and actually talking with more and more people.  We are working with the local school district to have some of his behaviors evaluated to see if they are something more than just timidness.  The evaluation is moving along well and should be complete in May.  I learn something new each day with this amazing and curious little creature that God has blessed me with!  Nathaniel has also recently started riding his bike with training wheels.  He is doing a great job - but now often balks at having to climb into the bike trailer for our longer family bike treks.  Just like his sister, he loves to read.  We spend several hours a day snuggled in our favorite oversized chair with a tettering stack of books.
