Summer....

The picture you see above is the view from my
favorite campsite at Split Rock Lighthouse State Park on the north shore.
I can't wait for summer vacation to begin, bringing with it the freedom to
travel to the places we love. Our first trip to the north shore is just a
few weeks away, and I'm already yearning to pack up.
We have 2 big camping trips planned this
summer, both to Split Rock and each over a week in length. Annabelle
is in 2 large productions this summer, which have limited our travels a
bit. She is in Peter Pan later this month and Snow White in
August.
Our garden is growing...I've finally decided
to plant things the deer and rabbits can't get to! I've planted mostly
potatoes, with a frame of strawberries, raspberries and brussel sprouts. I
plant tomatoes...but they never seem to turn red before frost comes. It
has been a cold, dry spring...so things are off to a slow start.
When we aren't sleeping in the tent...I'm
dreaming of days at the local beaches, long bike rides and books in the hammock.
Read on for the latest on the kids...
Annabelle
- Spring of 2009 has been full of dramatic opportunities for
Annabelle. She just finished the school musical, Emperor's New
Clothes...and musical tour with the church choir. She has been in
rehearsals for Peter Pan, the musical, with Eden Prairie Players
since early May. Opening Night is June 18. Later this summer she
will be in Snow White, August 7-9.
- Other summer plans include book club at library, lots of
reading and turning 11!
- Peter Pan - Staring Lake Amphitheater in Eden
Prairie. Thursday-Sunday June 21-21 and June 25-28, 7 p.m.. This
performance is FREE!!!
- Snow White - Riley Lake Barn in Eden Prairie. Friday
8/7 7:00 p.m.; Saturday 8/8 2:00 and 7:00 p.m.; Sunday 8/9 2:00
p.m.. Admission is charged ($5 for 16 and up, $3 for 5-15, free for
each child under 5 with paying adult).
Nathaniel
- Had an outstanding first grade year!
- Playing his 3rd season of soccer.
- Although Legos are still his first love...more and more I am
finding him with his nose in a book. He loves reading about space travel
right now and has been following the shuttle missions at NASA.
- After suffering a year with a "stuffy nose" and
trying many cures...we finally discovered that he has enlarged adenoids.
So summer plans may include surgery to get those taken out. He has been
a trooper getting through all the tests and attempts to fix it without
surgery.
Some things we are looking
forward to in the coming months:
